Tenzō is about discipline — showing up when no one is watching, round after round, and giving the small things the same attention as the big ones. Capsule N°01 was made for the ones who keep coming back to the mat.

The Tenzō Gi is black on black, cut from our 100% organic cotton foundation cloth and finished with details you won't find anywhere else in the Daruma lineup. On the back, a dragon coils around the Daruma doll, 柔術 — jiu-jitsu — written across its body. Burnt-orange embroidery marks both shoulders and the pants. Inside the collar, the Tenzō Collection label carries the line that started it all: fall seven, stand up eight.

We made 250. No reprint, no second colourway, no restock. When the last one is gone, the Tenzō design retires for good.

Every Tenzō Gi comes with a Daruma tote bag, made to carry it to the mat.

Cut from the same foundation cloth as the Daruma Foundation Gi. Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or GMOs — softer against the skin than conventional cotton, and gentler on the planet.

No synthetic fibres. No microplastic shedding. Produced in a small, ethically-run factory in China with a focus on fair labour practices and responsible sourcing.

Care

Machine wash cold or warm — max 40°C
Do not tumble dry — hang dry to maintain structure and shape
Do not bleach
Wash separately for the first few washes and turn inside out to help lock in the black dye and protect the embroidery
Organic cotton has minimal shrinkage — consistent fit from first wash onwards

Every Daruma Gi ships with a single red thread. It's the missing eye of the Daruma doll — the one you paint in only once your goal is achieved.

Sew it into your gi when you start chasing something — a stripe, a belt, a competition you haven't won yet. Let it carry the goal with you through every session. When you get there, you'll know exactly what it means.
